A rare and beautiful 1 year white giraffe calf has been spotted in Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. The Wildlife Nature Institute revealed this on their blog on the 19th of January 2016.
According to the institute, the giraffe body surface cells are not able to make pigment, hence the white color but this does not mean that she is albino.
The giraffe had initially been sighted a year earlier and they were pleased to find her alive and well.
Below are photos of the leucistic giraffe calf, then and now. A local lodge guide christened her Omo, after a popular brand of detergent in Tanzania.
